It seems just like yesterday that Havaianas first made it to the public, and now it’s turning five and stronger! Make your Havaianas is about to come to town again and as usual, it’s going to be at the SM City Cebu Northwing Atrium on July 30 till August 2, 2010. So for those who don’t want the usual styles, you can go to the event and well, make your own havaianas!

It is time again for the fashion event anticipated by all fashionistas and stylistas. Havaianas, the world’s favorite flip flops brand, is celebrating its 5^th year of offering Filipinos the chance to add personalized color and style to their lives—and their happy soles.

Havaianas, the first flip flops brand to offer pair customization in the country, holds its 5^th annual Make Your Own Havaianas event at SM City Cebu Northwing Atrium from July 30 to August 2, 2010. In honor of this landmark anniversary, Havaianas aims to make this fashion event bigger, better and brighter than ever.

“We always endeavor to improve Make Your Own Havaianas every year” says Anne Gonzalez, Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. “This year, though, we can really say that we’re going all out.  We’re celebrating the 5^th installation of this trademark event in honor of all the Havaianaticos that show up each year.”

It’s the very first IMAX theater in Cebu and I had the privilege of getting invited to watch a special screening of James Cameron’s Avatar. I’ve actually already watched the movie along with millions of movie goers out there when it got released sometime last year. I watched it in 3D, as well. The first time I saw the movie in 3D, I actually got disappointed, because my eyes ended up hurting. It was as if wearing eyeglasses that have grades that are too high for your own good. I’m pretty sure it can’t be the glasses. It must be the projection then.

Who knows? I’m not a 3D movie technician. When I watched it the first time, when IMAX hasn’t made it to Cebu yet, an American was sitting right behind us, and he kept taking his glasses on and off and as clear as daylight said, “I knew it was too good to be true.”. Nonetheless, they (he and his partner) finished the movie.

When I got the invite, I was happy, of course, it’s not everyday you get such an invite and I’m not sure I’d want to spend 400 pesos on a movie. People in the Philippines barely make that much everyday, and I’m jobless right now.

Mr. Allan Florendo, the Head of Marketing at SM City Cebu, gave a presentation about IMAX, regarding its history and also provided statistics about the ticket sales at SM Malls. When the movie started, the first thing that came to my mind was that the sound was at least more crisp that the first time I watched it, but the visuals were no better. I ended up taking the glasses off a number of times just to relieve my eyes.

I was also running a fever and since I only went to see what the hype was all about, I left the IMAX theater halfway through the movie to get some well-deserved rest.

When the Cebu Bloggers Society and I were invited to the SM Cyberzone Summer Event, we were informed to head on to the Cyberzone to check out what it was all about. But when I got there, I started to think that I might have gone to the event a day earlier, or maybe even later, because there were no signs at all of the event happening there.

I had to make a few calls here and there and had to text several other bloggers just to make sure that I’m not out of my mind. Just when I finally gave up on trying to find the actual place, I happened to be walking past the Ricky Reyes Salon at SM City Cebu and there was a small area there where my blogger friends were, as well as some people having fun at the booths.

When I got there, I wasn’t really sure about what the event was all about. There weren’t any signs whether or not this booth was for this, or that one’s for this, etc. All I knew was that we were supposed to cover the whole-day event.

One thing’s for sure though, the photo booth was a hit!
