It’s Inspiration Week and the Idol contestants are singing inspirational songs in line with the Idol Gives Back event tomorrow night. First up on the stage was Michael Johns, who sang “Dream On“, then Syesha Mercado, who sang Fantasia’s “I Believe“.

Jason Castro sat down and played a ukelele with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow“. I love the song and the way he sang it just made me melt. Hehe. Sue me, like a lot of girls out there don’t like him.

Kristy Lee Cook, who looked absolutely adorable tonight sang Martina McBride‘s “Anyway“. I can still remember Martina McBride sing this song last season. How would I forget? That was the night Chris Richardson wore the green “Respect Your Mother” shirt. Everybody on The Richness is still fussing over it, and a number of fans bought themselves an identical shirt.

David Cook was up next. I loved this man’s performance. I had goosebumps. So the performance was a little all over the place and needed some cleaning up, but I can totally imagine his performances on the same line. Oh and he did “Innocent“.

Carly Smithson sang “The Show Must Go On“. I love how strong her voice is, but I’m getting tired of the frowning all the time. I loved her make-up tonight though. David Archuleta came up and sang “Angels“. Haha, way to go and represent your fans (Arch Angels). He played the piano!

Brooke White closed the show tonight and sang “You’ve Got a Friend“. I loved the hair. She kinda reminds me a little of Melinda Doolittle, only Melinda didn’t cry on stage all the time.

Last year, American Idol organized an event called Idol Gives Back. This event became the biggest hit on television overnight, garnering over $75M in a very short period of time. Tomorrow, April 9, 2008, Wednesday at 7:30-10:00 in the evening, ET/PT, Idol Gives Back airs once again, raising awareness and more funds to the six charities that they will be benefiting. The following charities are as follows: U.S. Programs and the Children’s Health Fund, Save the Children, Malaria No More, Children’s Defense Fund, Make It Right, and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

This year, the event will be more star-studded than that of last year’s, among those that will be making new appearances are Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker, Dane Cook, Vanessa Hudgens, Jennifer Connolly, Fantasia, Celine Dion, Billy Crystal, Kiefer Sutherland, Ashley Tisdale, Elliott Yamin and Amy Adams. Bono, Reese Witherspoon, Brad Pitt, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Miley Cyrus, Peyton Manning, Chris Daughtry, Fergie, Annie Lennox, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Maroon 5, Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan and Heart will also make the show.

During the event, donations will be accepted via toll-free lines as well as the Internet.

I am not such a fan of Yahoo! for it spoiling everything about tonight’s show on American Idol. Don’t they know how many people have them as their homepage? Never mind me, I’m just a nobody. Looks like Yahoo! would like some traffic too. As if being homepage of millions and millions of people online isn’t enough.

Some radio stations have been wondering why none of the Idol contestants covered Dolly Parton‘s “9 to 5“. It was supposedly Chikezie Eze‘s song choice, but seeing that he is off the show now, and that everyone was pretty much contented with their song choices, nobody took the song. And now we see why. “9 to 5” was tonight’s group song.

Michael Johns, David Archuleta, and Carly Smithson were then called safe.

Next was the Q and A… Umm, I skipped this. The Top 9 performs “9 to 5“. I kinda wish one of them took the song as their song choice. They all sounded better singing this song. Looks like Simon loved it too, he was smiling from ear to ear. Michael Johns looked like he was high, it was funny. Was that Chikezie in the audience?

Guest artist The Clark Brothers performs “This Little Light of Mine” on American Idol. Performing on the highest rated show in the world.. That should get them really good publicity.

If any of you didn’t know what happened to David Cook after the performance, he was rushed to the hospital because of having high blood pressure. He already had it prior to being on the show and his brother having cancer isn’t helping any. But he’s doing better now. And he was announced safe.

Ramiele Malubay, however… made the Bottom 3. Sad, but I knew this was coming. Kristy Lee Cook joins her in the Bottom 3. Remember Bucky Covington? Yeah, he was featured. Looks like AI 7 is reviving all their old contestants. We don’t know whatever happened to them unless they get updated on the show anymore, or unless you are on any of their fanbases.

Phil Stacey seems to be doing alright in his career as well. He’s got an album coming out in April 29. Woohoo, Phil! Congratulations! Bo Bice was also featured on the show. I still can remember him singing “I Want to be Inside Your Heaven” back when he was the finalist against Carrie Underwood.

Syesha Mercado is safe, as well as Jason Castro. That leaves Brooke White to join the other two in the Bottom 3.

This week’s Ford video was the cutest I’ve seen. They all had different looks to them, Michael Johns looked a little bloated in his tank top, Jason Castro was cute, David Cook looked less hot, Syesha had a mohawk, and Ramiele was super cute with her -do.

AI gives an update on Idol Gives Back. Good job AI! Dolly Parton performs “Jesus and Gravity“. Last season’s American Idol Jordin Sparks is on the show.

And now the moment of truth… Brooke White starts crying and is then called safe. Kristy Lee Cook is also safe. And then it’s Ramiele Malubay‘s turn to go.

On tonight’s American Idol, Dolly Parton mentors the Top 9, and they are also doing covers from the Dolly Parton songbook.

Brooke White opens the show with “Jolene“. I love her, but really, it’s becoming the same over and over again. I need something new from her, but then again, who knows, she might win.

David Cook, after dominating the past weeks with his performances and controversies, did a cover of “Little Sparrow“. Tonight, he acknowledged the songwriters that he borrowed his arrangements from, including Doxology‘s rendition of “Eleanor Rigby“. Something different about him tonight… Shocks! He got rid of the “over-comb”. I like the new hair.

Ramiele Malubay, who totally sucked the past couple of weeks, did “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind“. She actually sounded a lot better this week, but I wasn’t too sure about the performance, if you listened carefully, you would hear her being unsure of some of the lyrics. I’m worried about tomorrow for her.

Jason Castro sang “Travellin’ Thru“. He sounded so good, but the performance didn’t sit well with Simon. Oh well, he sounded really good though.

Carly Smithson did “Here We Go Again” and totally rocked the vocals. But after listening to it and while typing the David Cook summary, I guess Simon is right. It is forgettable, I had to listen again just to remember what I was thinking when I heard it.

David Archuleta is slowly getting back up. I absolutely loved his voice tonight, almost made me cry. Really. He sang “Smoky Mountain Memories“.

Kristy Lee Cook looks so different tonight. She’s starting to show skin, people! I’ve always thought she looked cute, but it’s gonna take more than that to be the next American Idol. She sang “Coat of Many Colors“. Boring, but her voice was really suited for it.

Syesha Mercado was up next. She sang, “I Will Always Love You“. I absolutely loved the song. She did a good job tonight. I wish I had her vocal prowess. Grrr…

Michael Johns closes the show with “It’s All Wrong, But It’s All Right“. I love this guy. His voice reminds me of the classic 80′s rock band lead vocalists. Nobody can beat those guys. Seriously.

I was entertained. Very much.

On my last American Idol entry, I suggested that it’s either Chikezie or Ramiele Malubay going. I was only half right. Only Chikezie made the Bottom 3.

Next to get called on is Brooke White. She can’t go in the Bottom 3, so she’s safe. Carly Smithson is up, she’s also safe. David Archuleta is also safe, but I’m starting to think that he’s getting less and less versatile. Seems that ballads suit him more than anything, but you can’t just do ballads all the time.

And then it was David Cook. You have got to be kidding if he was in the Bottom 3. And he wasn’t. He’s safe. But Syesha Mercado isn’t. She’s in the Bottom 3 with Chikezie. What, with last night’s performance? Tsk, tsk, tsk…

Michael Johns is also safe! He can’t be in the Bottom 3 with a performance like that. No way.

Ok, so the Top 10 performs the group song. This one’s their best performance so far. It may look just casual, because I don’t think they can perform anything together. They were all over the place, but it was better than last time.

Kimberley Locke guests and performs. Idol Gives Back gets another promotion. Donate if you can, people, it’s for a good cause.

Ramiele Malubay is safe! Wow, I’m shocked. But then again, in this stage of the competition, it doesn’t matter how good you are, you just have to have the biggest number of fans to buy your record.

Kristy Lee Cook gets called with Jason Castro. Jason Castro looks like he’s about to pee his pants. Haha. Jason Castro is put in the Bottom 3.

*Cue screams from the fans, I love you’s get thrown at him*

The Bottom 3 gets together in the middle, with Jason Castro freaking out. He just couldn’t help himself.

He finally gets to breathe then gets back to the couch.

Looking at this year’s contestants, I’d say that they are pretty young, even Michael Johns, who’s almost 30 (or is he 30 yet?) looks young. So tonight was 80′s night and the Idol finalists are all competing to be the next American Idol and don’t have to worry about getting to go to the Tour anymore.

First was Filipino-American Ramiele Malubay with “Alone“. Such a tiny little girl with a big voice. To be honest, She’s starting to bore me. But if I were in the U.S., I’d probably be voting for her. Filipinos are like that.

Jason Castro sang with his guitar again tonight with “Fragile“. Ok, so I haven’t been watching AI as much as I used to last season, but I finally noticed the John Travolta likeness. I do not even know what to say about him right now.

Syesha Mercado sings “If I Were Your Woman“. Her voice is just something. Really. Reminds me of the Divas.

Chikezie Eze did “If Only For One Night“. Nice song, but I was bored out of my mind. I couldn’t help it. He got so built up the last two weeks and now he’s talking back to the judges again. I just wish he’d stop that.

I love Brooke White‘s hair tonight. I wish I still had that talent she has. She sang “Every Breath You Take“. I love the song. She totally messed up the beginning of the song. But it was definitely better than last week.

Michael Johns… What can I say about this man? Well, I loved him tonight. But I didn’t know you can sing two songs in one night. He sang “We Will Rock You” at the beginning, but finished up with “We Are the Champions“. That was a hot performance. Really.

Another one of my many favorite songs from the 80′s, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” was covered by Carly Smithson. But I got bored, guess the song doesn’t have my heart anymore. I love her voice though, that’s just one powerful voice.

David Archuleta sings “You’re the Voice“. Not even sure I heard the song before. I love David A, but he’s not shining for me right now.

Talk about being safe. It wouldn’t be right if Kristy Lee Cook got voted off for singing “God Bless the U.S.A.“. I have to admit, it was a nice song, it fit her right, but I wasn’t impressed still. I’m not being biased here, there’s just something that was lacking.

David Cook sang the King of Pop’s “Billie Jean“. But this guy can’t possibly look good singing the song with the same tempo, so he switched it up again. It felt like I was watching him in concert, man. Loved him tonight.

I hate to say it, but I think Ramiele and Chikezie are going to be in the Bottom 3 , not sure about the other one. This is tough. Ugh.

This week’s elimination round will determine who will get to join the American Idols Tour. That must suck big time for this week’s “loser”. Let’s start the recap.

In the future shows, the Idol contestants will have mentors to help them with the competition and they will be Dolly Parton, Mariah Carrey, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Neil Diamond. The songwriting contest has also been announced. So whoever’s got skills in songwriting better step up, because your song might be the next American Idol single.

So last week the Idol contestants did their first group song together, and I pretty much didn’t even bother listening, because frankly it just didn’t register too well with me. I’m still trying to forget the mess they made. Honestly. And this week was no different. Sorry Idol contestants. Maybe you guys will do better next. Practice makes perfect, after all.

And the results…. Brooke White gets called on first and was announced to be safe. The shocker… Carly Smithson has been put in the Bottom 3! What?! Anyway, David Archuleta‘s safe, Michael Johns is safe, Ford video shows up, David Cook’s safe again, and well, well, well, Kristy Lee Cook is in the Bottom 3 again. Jason Castro‘s safe, and yay, Ramiele Malubay is going on Tour because she is safe! Wasn’t her best performance last night, but whatever, she can still sing.

Kellie Pickler‘s back on American Idol and does her thing. Idol Gives Back gives updates on how the cause is doing. Fantasia and Elliott Yamin were actually in Angola to fight malaria and Fantasia sings “Amazing Grace“. While visiting, a baby was born and the family decides to name the baby right after Elliott. Cute.

Ok, results time again… Syesha Mercado‘s safe again, as well as Chikezie Eze, and the last contestant, Amanda Overmyer was announced to be in the Bottom 3 also.

Last person announced in the Bottom 3′s also the person eliminated in this round. Rocker Nurse Amanda Overmyer says good-bye to American Idol, but let’s see how far along in the business she gets.

It’s American Idol day again. Performance nights are Tuesdays in the US and Wednesdays in the Philippines, but well, I got friends in the US that like to update me and also like to spoil stuff for me, so I might as well blog about it and tell everyone. The Idols sang Lennon-McCartney songs again, and some did well, and some didn’t do too well.

Rocker nurse Amanda Overmyer went first and sang “Back in the U.S.S.R.”. It’s either I was too young or wasn’t born yet when this song was written. Umm, a little scared for the nurse. Too much talent on this show.

Kristy Lee Cook went next and sang, “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away”. Ummm…ok… I hope she goes home. Guess the only thing she’s good at is “Amazing Grace”. And is that a little skin I see, Ms. Cook? Let’s see how far some skin can get you.

Personal favorite, David Archuleta, did “Long and Winding Road”. You did good, Chosen Boy. You did good. Now it’s up to America, but then again, a lot of little girls and boys like this boy.

Michael Johns, oh Michael Johns… He sang “A Day in The Life”. Now I know why a lot of titles seem to have those exact same words. Messy, messy performance. That is all. I’m a fan though.

And then it was Brooke White. She sang “Here Comes The Sun”. After last week’s “touching” performance, everyone expected her to do a better job. Buuuut! Judges didn’t like it, and we all know that they’re not just there for show.

Last week’s best performer in my opinion, David Cook sang “Day Tripper”. One word. Ok.

And ooo, it’s Carly Smithson! She sang, “Blackbird”, and everyone seemed to love it. But I was bored. Sorry. Great voice though. Just didn’t think the performance was good enough.

And it’s my Pinkness’s and others from The Richness favorite, Jason Castro. I finally got to see him perform without a guitar. Yay! He sang “Michelle” in English/French, and it worked. The girls loved it, so looks like iTunes will be getting some $$$ for it again.

Very safe Syesha Mercado sang one of my favorite songs, regardless of how old it is, “Yesterday”. But don’t ask me to sing it, I don’t know the words too well, I just love the song mainly because I can never forget the tune. Very well done, girl.

Chikezie! My chubby friend Paul Josef likes you. And no, PJ’s not gay. He just thinks Chikezie is a good performer. Period. Anyway, he sang “I’ve Just Seen a Face”.

Finally, it’s Ramiele Malubay. She sang “I Should Have Known Better”. And I think this little girl redeemed herself from the boo-boo she made last week. Keep it up, Ramiele!

Who got eliminated tonight? Jim Carrey was at the show, dressed up like an elephant. Haha, love the guy, he’s hilarious! It has been noted that 29 Million votes were counted. Jim Carrey wasn’t the only one at the show, an American Idol alumnus was there too, namely Sanjaya Malakar with his sister, Shyamali.

Carly Smithson, Michael Johns and Jason Castro were called to the safe side first. Syesha Mercado was then called to the Bottom 3. The Ford Commercial that they NEVER show on Philippine television was aired.

Chikezie‘s building up great buzz, since he was called safe again. Amanda Overmyer was also called to the safe side. And the best performer last night, David Cook is safe as well.

Kristy Lee Cook, very horrible last night, in my opinion, I can say more terrible things about that performance more than Simon can, but I won’t. She’s in the Bottom 3.

Another AI alumni, Katharine McPhee made it to the show, but not as part of the audience, but she performs.

David Archuleta, despite his embarrassing performance is safe, and so is Brooke White, and Ramiele Malubay.

So the last person who made the Bottom 3 is indeed David Hernandez. And he went home.

Who would’ve known that it was David Hernandez‘s last night on American Idol? It’s sad that our resident stripper has to go away. My poor Storie has to be so heartbroken right now.

It’s time for the American Idol Top 12 to showcase their talents again before one of them gets eliminated again on the new stage tomorrow. Last night, it was Beatles night and it seems that the Beatles had them going for their money. The best performers from the previous weeks have been told that they weren’t doing too good this week. As an overview, here’s what happened.

It was Syesha Mercado who braved the bigger and better stage. She did a rendition of “Got To Get You Into My Life” and apparently did well even if she started “off-pitch”. And Simon saying that “it was better than alright.” has to be something positive, right?

Chikezie may not be the most popular among the current Idol contestants, but lately this guy has been building up buzz with his performances. He may not be as appealing as having the WOW! factor, but he’ll eventually get there. He sang “She’s A Woman”. The judges loved him, and the blunt Simon Cowell thought the performance was terrific.

Fellow Filipina, Ramiele Malubay did “In My Life”. Among the strongest contenders this year, she didn’t do too good in the eyes of the judges, but then again, it’s up to the American Idol fans and not the judges.

Fan- favorite Jason Castro played the guitar and sang “If I Fell”. It was considered as a safe performance, because he seemed like he was unsafe without that guitar with him.

Controversial Carly Smithson blasted the judges with her rendition of “Come Together”. She has the great vocal to back her up and this time she has done an even better job with it. One of the most famous, or shall I say most infamous, of the Idols this year, she’s got the most buzz even before American Idol aired this year.

And it was David Cook‘s turn. He sang “Eleanor Rigby”. The judges loved him, but we’ll have to wait till tonight to see if America loved him as well. A talent show is a talent show and should remain that way.

The nanny, Brooke White, is another fan favorite. She did “Let It Be”, and earned great reviews from the judges for it. Looks like she’s going to the next round, if she doesn’t, well it’s really bad getting robbed.

Ex-stripper David Hernandez sang “I Saw Her Standing There”. The performance did not sit well with the judges this time. He, with his great voice, gave a little too much with this performance. For my love Storie from The Richness, I hope he stays longer. ^-^

Rocker nurse Amanda Overmyer sang “You Can’t Do That”, and got good reviews, except from Simon Cowell, but then again, him saying it was as good as last time meant it was still good, otherwise he would’ve said it was “horrid”.

Michael Johns, the dude from Australia sang, “Across The Universe”. Everybody has been loving him since the auditions, but this time, it was either safe or boring. The crowd seemed to like him, but then again, they clap for everybody on stage anyway.

Another Idol with an album, Kristy Lee Cook sang “Eight Days A Week”, and didn’t do too good. The pretty singer is losing her appeal. Looks like first impressions don’t really last. “Dolly Parton on helium”, haha, that was a good one, Simon.

And then there was David Archuleta. He sang “We Can Work It Out”. He has been consistent with his performances on the stage up until this week. It was painful just watching him forget the lyrics during the auditions, but forgetting them on the stage? Uh-uh. Big big mess.

Let’s see if David Archuleta‘s fans can pull him out of his mess. I personally like the guy.
