Tolstoy bust, Pototsky paintings now in Cebu

In line with the 2nd Philippine Russian Business Forum & Exhibition Media Launch, the Official Press Release for the Tolstoy bust is published below.

THE bust of famous Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy which will be mounted at the Sugbo Cultural Center has recently arrived in time for the 2nd Philippine Russian Business Forum on Oct. 21-24 at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City.

This was announced by Honorary Russian Consul to the Visayas Russia Armi Lopez Garcia, who said the Tolstoy bust arrived along with the paintings of celebrated Russian painter-sculptor Gregory Pototsky.

The Tolstoy bust will be unveiled on Oct. 21 as the main highlight in the opening ceremonies of this year’s Philippine Russian Business Forum (PRBF).

Tolstoy is regarded as among the world’s greatest of novelist. His famous works include the masterpieces “Anna Karenina” and “War and Peace,” which is one of the greatest novels ever written.

The 2009 movie “The Last Station”, starring Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren, was based on Tolstoy’s final year. Tolstoy died of pneumonia at Astapovo station in 1910 at the age of 82.

Pototsky’s paintings, on the other hand, will serve as the Russian delegation’s main attraction in the Philippine Russian Art Show, which is among the PBRF’s major components along with the Philippine Russian Trade Exhibition and Philippine Russian Photo Exhibit.

Investors, real estate developers, businessmen, decision makers, exporters, importers, national government agencies, and local government units from both the Russian Federation and the Philippines are expected to attend the four-day Philippine Russian Business Forum.

The 2nd Philippine-Russian Business Forum is organized by the Philippine Russian Business Assembly (PRBA), Embassy of the Russian Federation, and the Philippine Exhibits and Themeparks Corp. (PETCO).

It is being held in cooperation with the Province of Cebu, City of Mandaue, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Tourism, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cebu Business Club, and the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Online Slots

Now, I’m not one to gamble online or offline, since (a) I don’t have the cash to spend, and (b) I just have the worst luck when it comes to gambling. I can’t even win on a Rock-Paper-Scissors game. :P

Gambling online has been the latest thing since it’s convenient and if Lady Luck is on your side, then expect your invested money to grow in proportions that you have not imagined before.

Gambling index websites have sprouted all over the web to help those who want to learn, or try their luck, rather. If you plan on gambling, you might as well try online slots first, before doing online poker, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

2nd Philippine Russian Business Forum & Exhibition Media Launch

When I finally got the need to get up yesterday, I just wanted to check on my e-mail, the Cebu Bloggers’ Society forums, and maybe post a little update about the goings-on in my life right now. But! As soon as I logged on to the forums, there was an invitation to a media launch on the same day and within an hour and a half’s time. I was unsure whether or not to go since I had an exam the next day, but when I checked that it was a short notice event, I was sure that not a lot of bloggers will be going. Only three actually confirmed their attendance: Jaysee, Vernon, and Miong. I signed up to confirm my attendance just to at least increase the number of people at the event, since we were not sure who else were going.

The event was held at the Coral Room of the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City. Television and Radio Media, Paper Media as well as, *ahem* Online Media were invited to witness the launching of the 2nd Philippine Russian Business Forum and Exhibition this coming October 21-24, 2010, which will be held at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).
