CoffeeCat Now in Cebu!

There is nothing like the smell of coffee in the the morning. Or, in this case, the whole day. The Cebu Bloggers Society and I have been invited once again to another shop opening. This is actually the first time that I’ve been to a coffee shop that serves yogurt. So yum yum. :D

Press Release by BigSEED Media.

After first opening its doors in May 2009 in Torres Street, Davao City, Coffeecat marks yet another milestone with its second branch, this time in Cebu, at the Asiatown IT Park’s newest high-rise development, the eBloc Tower. The Asiatown IT Park branch is Coffeecat’s first foray into the exciting Cebu market. With its passion for coffee and excellence, Coffeecat promises to further enrich the highly developed coffee culture scene in this city already spoiled with choices.  Coffeecat serves the pure goodness of 100% premium Arabica coffee, making it not just another brew in the City.

The name ‘Coffeecat’ is the product of an intriguing play of words coupled with a serendipitous association to a cat-sized mammal called a civet cat, which has a close affinity towards coffee berries.

The concept for Coffeecat was born out of a dream of creating a new type of meeting place –one that mixes modern, industrial, and minimalist elements yet retains a warm and cozy ambiance for good conversations, great beverages and delectable dishes. This is a meeting place that recognizes the Filipinos’ cultural tradition of taking a break from daily workday life and relaxing in the company of others. These, combined with the Italian coffee culture and influence of the North American pastry tradition all came together in the vision of Coffeecat.

E is for Ethelbert

Birthday boy with Choco Loco
Daily short entries are never good enough for this blog. I always have to post at least more than 100 words or else I feel as if the essence of writing is not there. This particular post is dedicated to a good friend of mine within the CBS group. He celebrated his birthday not too long ago and the CBS went to celebrate the special occasion with him as well. On November 15, 2009, we met up at the Cream and Bake Shop for the formal celebration of his birthday, instead of on his actual birthday.

Allow me to tell you something about the Ethelbert that I know…

1. It’s never boring/quiet whenever he’s around.
2. He’s a kind-hearted person who cares about the environment and people who need caring.
3. He’s one of the funniest people that you will ever know.
4. And there is so much more that you would need to get to know him personally to find out what they are.

There was a lot of food laid out on the table, a lot of which I did not get even a taste of, which is perfectly fine because Ethelbert did bother getting some food on the table that I could eat. :D

Check out what we had at Cream and Bake’s. :)

Brasco Pizza and Pasta

CBS at Brasco's

Just last week, I had the privilege of getting invited to a restaurant opening, the Brasco Pizza and Pasta pizza parlor. I was pretty swamped with everything that has been going on and I was looking to do overtime at work for the extra cash and had just started working out. Thing is, I noticed my blog hasn’t been updated in quite a while already, so I grabbed the chance and here I am writing a review about the place.

When asked why Brasco was named as such, we found out that Brasco basically stands for Bryan’s Aspirations Company. It may not be much, but then again, the thought is there and plus, it is Italian-sounding, a fitting name for an Italian delicacy. Two out of three aren’t bad, I suppose – as long as they serve the same wonderful Italian food people all around the world love to eat at the family dinner table, at work or in front of their email and foxy bingo online (www.foxybingo.com) page. We hoped the food wouldn’t turn out to be merely ‘aspirational’, either.

Located in The Gallery along Juan Luna Avenue in Cebu City, Brasco Pizza and Pasta opened its very first branch, hoping to attract the growing pizza lovers crowd.  Read the rest of this entry »
