Faccias de Amore

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and couples are busy making plans for the big day. As a call center employee, holidays mean little to me, since I still work on those days. They only mean something if I get paid to work on them. To me, they’re just like any old day, except you get paid more. Teehee. But Valentine’s Day is not even a legal or a special holiday, so might as well make everyday Valentine’s for me. :D

Instead of not feeling Valentine’s again, I’m planning on watching Faccias De Amore (Faces of Love), a play presented by the University of San Carlos (USC-CEBU) College of Nursing in partnership with Teatro Sugbo, Incorporated. The play is currently ongoing, scheduled from February 11-13, 2010, with 2 showings per day, at 4:30PM and 7:30PM. For those interested in watching the play, you can go to the University of San Carlos (USC)- South Campus along corners J. Alcantara St., P. Del Rosario Ext. and V. Rama Ave. Cebu City.

For those wondering what the play is all about, let me give you a brief summary that might get your interest.  This is quoted from the Cebu Bloggers Society forum: Read the rest of this entry »

CBS @ 2!

I’ve been blogging even before I joined this group, but blogging wasn’t as fun as when I did. :D

In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.

One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and the number is still bound to increase further.

And now, the group is already anticipating its 2nd founding anniversary! Dubbed as “CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration”, the event is envisioned to further strengthen the bond of friendship and camaraderie within the blogging community.

The anniversary celebration will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010, 5-9PM, at the Celebration Hall of SM Storyland, Lower Ground Floor, SM City Cebu.

This big and important event won’t be possible without the help and assistance of the following:

Christmas with CBS

I’ve been with CBS for quite a while now. Although I haven’t been able to update my blog with anything that has sense in a while, I do have valid reasons as to why I couldn’t do it. The longer I kept my blog idle, I felt myself slipping away from the group as well.

But one night can change a lot.

Last night, the Cebu Bloggers Society held their Christmas party. It wasn’t the very first party CBS has had, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go to the first one. T_T

The group started off with dinner at Joven’s Grill. Unfortunately, I had my brother coming over so I couldn’t go to dinner with the CBS. But! I still made it to Joven’s before we went to Cafe Shang, where the party is supposed to be held.

I brought along my Christmas bundle, wrapped in recycled newspaper dated, December 13, 2009. The rule for bringing along a gift was it should cost at least 200 pesos, minus the gift wrapper and should be good for both sexes. Truth is, I totally forgot about getting a gift.

Power OT’s

These past few days have been pretty tough on me… The only thing that puts my mind at ease is when I get on the computer and start cooking up on Cafe World or play the old school game, The Sims. Not The Sims 2 or 3, just the original The Sims game. The reason why things have been getting tough is well, money is pretty tight nowadays. I can’t give out any details as to why money is so tight right now, so I’m just gonna say that I’m lacking the discipline to keep my money in my pocket and just splurge it at everything else.

Would you believe that I haven’t exactly looked at myself in the mirror in close enough to see that I’ve been looking pretty haggard lately in a while now? Reason for that is, I don’t have a mirror big enough to inspect myself with :P and I barely have time to look in the mirror. I’ve been spending most of my time at work taking calls hoping I can get enough cash and finally start saving up and not embarrass myself because I can’t live up to what my parents expect me to be.

So now, instead of just working 5 days a week, I work on irregular hours whenever I can or whenever the opportunity presents it, and at the end of the day, although I’m making more than my peeps are making, I still can’t afford to go on vacations or buy the gadget that I wanted, or even put my money in the bank.

Well, my life just sucks right now. :(

E is for Ethelbert

Birthday boy with Choco Loco
Daily short entries are never good enough for this blog. I always have to post at least more than 100 words or else I feel as if the essence of writing is not there. This particular post is dedicated to a good friend of mine within the CBS group. He celebrated his birthday not too long ago and the CBS went to celebrate the special occasion with him as well. On November 15, 2009, we met up at the Cream and Bake Shop for the formal celebration of his birthday, instead of on his actual birthday.

Allow me to tell you something about the Ethelbert that I know…

1. It’s never boring/quiet whenever he’s around.
2. He’s a kind-hearted person who cares about the environment and people who need caring.
3. He’s one of the funniest people that you will ever know.
4. And there is so much more that you would need to get to know him personally to find out what they are.

There was a lot of food laid out on the table, a lot of which I did not get even a taste of, which is perfectly fine because Ethelbert did bother getting some food on the table that I could eat. :D

Check out what we had at Cream and Bake’s. :)

Brasco Pizza and Pasta

CBS at Brasco's

Just last week, I had the privilege of getting invited to a restaurant opening, the Brasco Pizza and Pasta pizza parlor. I was pretty swamped with everything that has been going on and I was looking to do overtime at work for the extra cash and had just started working out. Thing is, I noticed my blog hasn’t been updated in quite a while already, so I grabbed the chance and here I am writing a review about the place.

When asked why Brasco was named as such, we found out that Brasco basically stands for Bryan’s Aspirations Company. It may not be much, but then again, the thought is there and plus, it is Italian-sounding, a fitting name for an Italian delicacy. Two out of three aren’t bad, I suppose – as long as they serve the same wonderful Italian food people all around the world love to eat at the family dinner table, at work or in front of their email and foxy bingo online (www.foxybingo.com) page. We hoped the food wouldn’t turn out to be merely ‘aspirational’, either.

Located in The Gallery along Juan Luna Avenue in Cebu City, Brasco Pizza and Pasta opened its very first branch, hoping to attract the growing pizza lovers crowd.  Read the rest of this entry »
