EEG Results

For the last week and this week, I have been thinking that this might be the most productive days of my entire life. That, or maybe I just didn’t have too much to do.

Last week, I was with the Cebu Bloggers Society at the Thakral Group’s Press Launch. There will be a separate post about that particular event later.

After the conference, I had plans for later that afternoon. I was to wait for my bf to come see me so we can get the EEG results from Chong Hua Hospital and submit it to my doctor at Cebu Doctor’s University Hospital. His shift ends at 2PM and CHH was about 20 minutes away from his workplace.

The press conference ended at approximately 1:30PM. The weather was not totally agreeing with me and I was actually running low on cash. It was just super hot that day, so I opted to just wait for him instead of me going to him.

PLDT Watchpad Speedster Bus Launching

Last Friday night, the Cebu Bloggers and I were invited to the launching of the PLDT Watchpad Speedster Bus. The event was held at Formo in the Banilad Town Center. Thanks to Clarence of Everything Ubec by the way for letting me use his picture. *

I’ve never been to Formo til that night. I was late, as usual. Thank goodness, nothing’s began yet when I got there. I saw the cheerleaders running over their routine and some guys holding torches in each hand. The music was blaring and the parking lot in front of the restobar was vacated.

The Cebu Bloggers Society was seated right outside the actual entrance and in front of the projector, so we got to see several reruns of the commercial. For your convenience, here’s the commercial.

PLDT Watchpad goes Live and Loud in Cebu

I am actually looking forward to this event. I was just at Formo, at the Banilad Town Center for the launch of the PLDT myDSL WatchPad. Now, as much as I dislike for being double billed by this company, I realized the organizers of the event has nothing to do with my problem. PLDT and I are working things out with the billing issues.

I’m still contemplating whether or not I’ll make it to the event. I may be still snoring my head off at around this time. If I’m awake, I’ll go. :D

According to the Press Release:

PLDT myDSL WatchPad will officially launch its groundbreaking partnership with local cable channel Real Cebu Television (RCTV) on Sunday, March 28, 2010, 1 p.m. at the Parkmall Grounds. Dubbed LIVE and LOUD, this free event is a celebration of Cebu talent, local culture, technological convergence and the new age of cable and internet television.

Live and Loud will feature a school band competition to be participated by bands from Cebu Doctor’s University, University of the Philippines Cebu College, Cebu Institute of Technology, University of Cebu, University of Southern Philippines, Southwestern University and the University of San Jose Recoletos; with performances from Tambayan – one of RCTVs shows– bands and Cebu’s pride: Cuarenta, Bethany, Pandora, Missing Filemon, Juress, Uno, Lui and the Line Divides which will all be streamed live on http://www.PldtWatchpad.com.

With this unprecedented union of forces, WatchPad now brings the Cebu flavor to the rest of the Philippines with the addition of RCTV to its growing list of channels. RCTV, which airs locally on Channel 36 on Sky Cable and now nationwide through WatchPad, is Cebu’s only infotainment channel that features everything about Cebu- lifestyle, culture, music, people and places. WatchPad subscribers from all over the country can now experience Cebu’s multi-faceted charm by accessing RCTV’s shows for free on their myDSL-powered PCs. “We are very excited about myDSL WatchPad’s partnership with RCTV. There are so many great talents, hot happenings and exciting parties in Cebu and by tying up with RCTV we hope to bring the islands closer through constant innovation and convergence to further revolutionize broadband and internet television” says Myla Villanueva, Senior brand manager of PLDT myDSL.

The Preparation for EEG

For the last week, I have been paying the good doctor a visit to get myself all checked out. I first had the CBC, then the CT Scan, which thankfully showed that my brain is good, then I had to go to another hospital to get my EEG done.

The deadline to have it done was on Friday. Why? Because the Medicard form (Letter Of Authorization) was only valid for three (3) days and I got the approval on Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon, the CDUH (Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital) CardioPulmonary Department asked me to call the following morning to have the EEG appointment set up. I was asked to call at approximately 9am because they said that the machine still needs to be tested out. I was provided with a small slip of paper that has the hospital’s number and the CPD’s extension.

The following day at around 9am… Read the rest of this entry »

CT Scan Results

I was a little fearful of what the scan might say. First of all, I didn’t know what a CT Scan was about and for. All I know if that you lay down and then you get pulled into a tube-like machine.

So I got on the Internet again and did a little research on exactly just that.

Since the scan was done on my head, here’s what I got from Wikipedia.

CT scanning of the head is typically used to detect:

  1. bleeding, brain injury and skull fractures
  2. bleeding due to a ruptured/leaking aneurysm in a patient with a sudden severe headache
  3. a blood clot or bleeding within the brain shortly after a patient exhibits symptoms of a stroke
  4. a stroke
  5. brain tumors
  6. enlarged brain cavities in patients with hydrocephalus
  7. diseases/malformations of the skull
  8. evaluate the extent of bone and soft tissue damage in patients with facial trauma, and planning surgical reconstruction
  9. diagnose diseases of the temporal bone on the side of the skull, which may be causing hearing problems
  10. determine whether inflammation or other changes are present in the paranasal sinuses
  11. plan radiation therapy for cancer of the brain or other tissues
  12. guide the passage of a needle used to obtain a tissue sample (biopsy) from the brain
  13. assess aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations

Here’s a snapshot of my CT Scan, by the way. Read the rest of this entry »

How a Day is Like at Cebu Doctor’s Hospital

Well, half a day, rather. Cebu Doctor’s Hospital is actually the busiest hospital I’ve gone to so far, even busier than Chong Hua Hospital. According to my opinion anyways. The day before yesterday, on a super sunny Monday afternoon after shift, I may have lost consciousness for the first time in my life. What happened, you may ask. I’m actually one of the millions of people who probably like to crouch and then get up suddenly and get an occasional dizzy spell. Usually, what I would do is when I’d feel dizzy, I’d just grab onto something solid, close my eyes for a few seconds until it passes, then I’m fine.

But this time it was different.

The heat may have been part of the blame, since it was just scorching that day. As soon as I got home, I petted my April, hand-fed her, since she didn’t even bother moving her dish. Sometimes she just needed a little persuasion and she’ll finish up eating. As I stood up, I began to feel the dizzy spell coming. Knowing where I was heading to, I grabbed the machine in front of me, and said. “Nalipong man ko..” (I’m dizzy..). I started to close my eyes, and..
