Fever Mania

High Temp

My work shift starts at 1:30AM and ends at 10:30AM. On August 28, a Friday, after getting out of work, I was already not feeling too well. My little sister was coming over so I rested up a bit before she came. While waiting for her, I slowly ate some lunch so she got to eat with me when she arrived. I laid down since I was feeling the fever coming and I was getting the chills again.

Later that afternoon, I had bf come with me to the doctor. It was past four in the afternoon and he had to work at 10PM. Poor guy hasn’t had any sleep looking after me. The doctor probed me for possible symptoms, and wrote down some possible diagnoses.

  • Pregnancy
  • Dengue Fever
  • Pneumonia

She asked me when I last had my period and I told her that I haven’t had it for 2 months already, so she asked me if I was expecting. I was like, whoa, no way doc. Most especially since we don’t even do it. Next, she took a look at my tonsils, the right one was inflamed, and has been inflamed for quite a while now. She thought it was strange that I didn’t even feel a thing, especially now that I had a small bump underneath my jawline.

Next, she gave me a referral slip that I needed to take to the nearest laboratory for a Complete Blood Count. It took less than 10 minutes to hop from the clinic to the lab and back.

So she wrote me a medical certificate and advised me to rest up for three days and gave me some meds to take. I was almost nightfall when we finally got home. I was tired, hungry and sick. I called in super early to let the company know that I can’t come in to work, but no one was answering the phone. I rested up since it was still too early to call in sick. I was so stoned with the meds that I fell asleep and when I woke up, it was already past 11PM.

So I called in, but still no one would answer. Oh come on, don’t tell me that everybody at work is calling in sick so that they won’t have to come in to work? Since no one was answering, I left a voice mail message, stating my name, my employee id, my team lead’s name and the reason why I can’t come in.

I slept like a baby that night.

When I woke up, I felt so much better. When I checked my online schedule, I was tagged as Absent without notifying the company. So much for the voice mail. Tch.

Two rest days followed, so I was expected to report on the 1st. But the chills kept on coming back, so I made sure that I filed leaves for the next two days to make sure that I feel well enough to go to work.

I had plans for September 2nd, but most of them flopped.

Argh.
