No More Internet!
To not have Internet at home is like the end of a blogger’s career. Well, in my case, at least. I’m not about to spend more than I have already done so just to keep the blog updated. Renting a computer per hour is way more expensive than having unlimited Internet at home. If you check one of my previous posts, you’d notice that I was already considering getting the Internet connection at home cut off.
And I did.
Finally, I have ended any association I have with Smartbro. At first I was just starting to complain about the intermittent connectio, then they of course promised to send someone out to fix the connection, they even called the day before to confirm it.
And of course, I was pretty confident that the number of times Smartbro has sent contractors over to where I lived, they could’ve just looked for the house and not text me asking about a landmark close to the house. I should’ve foreseen that though, so it was my fault why it didn’t get fixed. But then again, they could’ve been more resourceful and just looked for the house. The house isn’t even that hard to find since I live right by the road and the barangay that I live in isn’t even that big.
Oh well, it’s done and I wasn’t really planning on staying with Smartbro longer. 384kbps was just too slow and it being intermittent wasn’t too pleasing. I’d rather not have Internet.
Since I was working the day that they texted me, the appointment was cancelled and I was a no-show customer. Now let me explain something about my job, why I can’t even send a text message.
I work in a place where we handle accounts, and having a cellphone while working puts our clients at the risk of getting the information in their accounts hijacked. To protect the clients, we’re not allowed to have phones, and even pen and paper.
Since Smartbro called the previous day to confirm the appointment, I thought everything would be alright, since the next day was a Sunday and my brother and sister are home on Sundays.
Buuut, no. On Monday, we got the bill for the Internet. I started snickering at the fact that we still need to pay for the service. I wasn’t annoyed, but I wasn’t happy either. I knew that everything was going the way it should be except for my Internet being sucky. I took the failed appointment as a sign that it was definitely time to leave Smartbro and move on to a faster ISP.
I let the days pass by until it was Saturday again. I was just about fed up with waiting for the time to strike 3AM before I could get decent enough Internet connection just to check my emails.
Anyway, after work, I went straight to the Smart Wireless center in the Elizabeth Mall and filed a voluntary permanent disconnection order. They tried saving me from the disconnection but I insisted that I no longer needed their service and I need faster Internet speed and unfortunately, Smartbro can’t offer anything faster than 384kbps.
Around 12 hours later, we permanently said goodbye to Smartbro.

Oh well… that’s life Wil.
Whew.. I felt the same way with you on having a slow/intermittent internet connection. I even thought of having it disconnected and look for another ISP. But, I can’t afford loosing a connection since this is the only way I am happy when I am at home. Anyways, just report always to them if you are having a connection problem. And, hopefully they’ll check it not let the problem occur again…
Oh I did report it, but I went ahead and disconnected the service since 384kbps is still really slow, I would’ve stayed with Smartbro if they had better speeds, but they didn’t and well, the technician was a no show when we had the appointment scheduled.
