ONE

The ONE Campaign. It’s all about increasing the global awareness about global poverty, disease, hunger. This campaign is basically about Americans coming together as ONE to fight off the said issues, not just in the United States, but also in other developing countries.

I personally signed up for the ONE campaign even though I don’t really know how I can help. But still, one signature can make a lot of difference. It’s a non-profit organization, and is actually very helpful in expanding awareness of the current issues involving the most impoverished countries. I may not be American, but I know I can help in even the littlest way possible. I’m not financially equipped enough to start donations, but my actions can start a revolution if I wanted to. It’s amazing what one person can do. Just imagine what so many people acting as ONE can.

If you are fairly contented with what you have right now, there’s no harm in being thankful for all your blessings and even sharing them. So why not share them with those who need them the most?

From ONE.org,

The ONE Campaign seeks to raise public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in developing countries. In furtherance of these purposes, the ONE Campaign will:

  • Mobilize people from all 50 states and America’s leading non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations to expand awareness of these issues
  • Publish educational information about the impact of overseas development assistance and reformation of unfair international trade regimes on global poverty, hunger and disease
  • Raise awareness about and promote the framework of the Millennium Development Goals to eradicate poverty and improve public health and education

The ONE Campaign is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

Happy Birthday!

Image from www.pinkcakebox.comToday is another one of the most important people in my life’s birthday. It’s my baby sister’s 18th birthday today. Still can’t believe how time flies so fast. I still remember the day my mom got up from her sleep and started cringing in pain. I used to be such a heavy sleeper in my younger years, but never had really good sleep when I hit my elementary years.

It was 4 something in the morning and my dad turned on the lights in the room. When we were younger, we’d all sleep together in the same room and we put together two big beds in the same room and just liked it that way. We’d play before going to bed, because apparently that’s the only way to get us to go to bed–tire us out.

My little brother and I would play wrestling matches on the bed, but we’d never get past the poses. He’d play Randy “Macho Man” Savage. And I would be Hulk Hogan. Haha, yeah, those were the times. My stinky little brother just turned three and he was as mischievous as they can get. I was still 5 turning 6.

Bloggers Meet Up Again in Cebu

Yeah, I know I said I won’t be updating until the darn exam, butttt… whatever!

I have been fighting with the itch to post and I have managed to not post in quite a while, and trust me, I have a lot to post. But I’m posting this for the upcoming Bloggers meeting again this Saturday.

I put this together for everyone, since I noticed that a lot of the bloggers that I keep in touch with are slacking off as much as I was when they were not supposed to. And I came to meet new bloggers as well. Some have been keeping in touch with me via Yahoo Messenger, and I’ve been reading up on the topics in the forum where we first got together.

And so far we have 9 people who confirmed their attendance to tomorrow’s event.

Miss Wilhelmina on Vacation

Wow, not even a week old and the blogger’s going on a vacation. What gives? Actually, it’s not a vacation that I’m about to go on. I’d like to call it a journey or a quest to attain something that I really want to go through just once.

What is it, you ask?

In a month’s time, I will be one of the God-knows-how-many hopefuls that are going to be taking the examinations for the Civil Engineering board. Yes, I went through Civil Engineering, the same degree that William Hung was taking while he auditioned for American Idol. Funny how I still managed to get this post American Idol related—sorta.

Anyway, looking back on what I have been doing for the past six months, yes, I’ve been reviewing for six months, I realized that I’m nowhere near my capability to do my best. I can seriously do a whole lot better than what I’m doing now. I’m not the smartest person in the world, but I can make people think that I am super-smart even though I’m not. Call me a good actor, if you will.

So right now, I’m pretty much freaked out. Read the rest of this entry »

American Idol – April 8 Inspiration Week

It’s Inspiration Week and the Idol contestants are singing inspirational songs in line with the Idol Gives Back event tomorrow night. First up on the stage was Michael Johns, who sang “Dream On“, then Syesha Mercado, who sang Fantasia’s “I Believe“.

Jason Castro sat down and played a ukelele with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow“. I love the song and the way he sang it just made me melt. Hehe. Sue me, like a lot of girls out there don’t like him.

Kristy Lee Cook, who looked absolutely adorable tonight sang Martina McBride‘s “Anyway“. I can still remember Martina McBride sing this song last season. How would I forget? That was the night Chris Richardson wore the green “Respect Your Mother” shirt. Everybody on The Richness is still fussing over it, and a number of fans bought themselves an identical shirt.

David Cook was up next. I loved this man’s performance. I had goosebumps. So the performance was a little all over the place and needed some cleaning up, but I can totally imagine his performances on the same line. Oh and he did “Innocent“.
